Conference Services (CS) Maintenance & Custodial Manager – Tier II

Job Description – Conference Services (CS) Maintenance & Custodial Manager – Tier II
 
The Summer Camp Staff for Conference Services are a vital piece of camps and events hosted on campus during the summer months. The Summer Staff person is expected to represent SWU positively through willingness, teach-ability, a high level of personal responsibility, respect for all people, a positive attitude and a genuine desire to serve.
 
Under the supervision of the Director of Conference Services, the CS Maintenance & Custodial Manager is responsible for conducts room and building checks (walk through’s before and after camps) for all residence halls and athletics facilities to assess for damage, and maintenance or cleaning needs. Works closely with summer Facilities Manager to ensure efficient housing placement due to rooms that may be offline for cleaning/maintenance, and serves as the liaison between The Budd Group and the Facilities Department for each camp and/or event during the summer.
 
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with a team to provide services involving housing needs, moving furniture, assembling furniture, acting as overnight RA in residence halls when assigned, office duties, and occasional duties at Eagles Rest Bed & Breakfast. In addition, the Summer Staff person will have minimal responsibilities as a summer resident assistant for students renting apartments during the summer months.
 
The Summer Staff person will serve an average of 30 hours per week with the understanding that some weeks will require more time and some weeks will require less time. It is vital that the Summer Staff Person understands our expectation of availability and flexibility within weekly hours.
 
Requirements
 
1.      Agree to the terms and required time commitments of the Conference Services Department.
 
2.      Agree to flexibility and availability in work schedule as directed by the Director of Conference Services in response to needs that may arise throughout the summer.
 
3.      Agree to work respectfully and willingly in conjunction with other Conference Services Summer Staff in determining time off with the understanding that at least one summer assistant is on duty at all times.
 
4.      Agree to serve as the live-in Conference Services presence in in Mullinax, Apartments, Stuart-Bennett, or Joiner-Hilson Complex as directed.
 
5.      Agree to be on duty during especially busy weeks such as move-in/move-out of summer residents and other camps as outlined in the summer master calendar.
 
6.      Assist the Director of Conference Services and the CS Coordinator as directed with preparation, hosting, and other office and camp tasks as assigned.
 
7.      Assist the Resident Director as directed with the move-in and move-out of students between May 2023 – August 2023.
 
8.      Manage check-in, check-out, furniture inventory, and key inventory of all the camps and conferences in conjunction with Conference Services staff.
 
9.      Ability to lift more than 20 lbs. and work in a physically taxing environment for periods of time.
 
Payment and Housing
The Tier II Summer staff person will be paid $4000.00 for the work period of May 8th, 2023 through August 18th, 2023, split into 3 equal payments. Pay will be received on the 1st of the month, beginning June 1st, 2023 and last payment will be distributed August 1st, 2023. The Tier II Summer Staff person’s room will be assigned by Residence Life and is part of the benefit package that means no rent is required.
